Masonic Lodge Landscaping
In keeping with our goals of beautifying our community the Westerville Garden Club donated design expertise, plantings and labor to update the landscaping around the Blendon Masonic Lodge. Special thanks to our member, Ron Miller of Miller Landscapes of Westerville for time in spearheading design and plant selection.

Polaris Butterfly Garden
Westerville Garden Club in cooperation with Westerville Parks and Recreation plants and maintains this garden along Polaris Parkway’s Walking and Bike Trail. This garden contains plants that attract butterflies. The club gathers regularly to care for this garden and the plants.

Blue Star Memorial
Westerville Garden Club sponsored the Blue Star Memorial Marker and garden in Hanby Park. This memorial recognizes military members and their families. It is prominently located near the Presidential Oak Grove, the library, and the Ohio to Erie bike trail.

First Responders’ Park

Our club partners with the City of Westerville to plant and maintain the garden areas around the First Responders Memorial Park. This park provides a contemplative site with a section of the NYC Trade Center tower as the focal point.

Gold Star Memorial Garden

Our Gold Star Memorial Garden is a prominent feature of the Westerville Veteran’s Memorial Park, dedicated on November 11, 2022. Our club donated and planted 700 perennials to surround our installation of a NGC Gold Star Memorial By-Way Marker. This site is used daily to provide natural beauty and a place for reflection for the public and military families. The park is open to the public and is located at Cleveland and County Line Rds.

Garden Therapy

Our club provides monthly activities for residents at the Inniswood Health and Rehabilitation facility. Activities include creative activities and playing BLOOM Bingo. These group happenings provide a social connection which helps reduce isolation and builds a sense of community.

Hanby House Kitchen Garden

Our club designed, planted, and maintains this garden monthly, which has plants selected as authentic to a typical “kitchen garden” of the mid-1800’s. the Westerville Historical Society maintains the Hanby house and conducts many tours for school children and adults. We provide an educational brochure at the entrance for those who visit at other times.

Presidential Oak Grove

Our club initiated this grove of trees honoring the eight presidents from Ohio. A ninth tree has a plaque with a mirror asking, “Who will be next?”    In 2017 we added the Blue Star Memorial marker. Westerville Parks & Recreation Dept. maintains this at Hanby Park in Westerville. Our garden club and members provided three benches and additional items for the park as needed.

WesterFlora

Our club has organized this free garden tour each year since 1993. We select 10-12 diverse gardens to highlight, coordinating with
Hoover Gardens and Westerville Parks and Recreation to advertise and support the homeowners and visitors. We provide ambassadors (club members) at each garden to assist visitors.
